OS Reviews: GuDong Hot Pot Delivery

GuDong Hot Pot Delivery, located at 1212 N Atherton Street, offers many different delicious authentic Chinese dishes that can be delivered right to your door.

My experience reviewing the restaurant was a very pleasant one. The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and the opportunity to cook authentic Chinese cuisine within the comfort of my own home was very enjoyable.

Based on several online reviews and the positive experience I had with the staff, I was definitely looking forward to doing this review. While I am not very experienced with hot pot food and cooking, I am a big fan of authentic Chinese food.

Upon arrival to pick up my order, I received descriptive information from the staff on my order and tips to cook my meal at home using the provided pot, holder, and fuel. The instructions that came with my order were very helpful and made things easier as we worked.

While I enjoyed the food a lot because of its great taste, the best part of my experience with GuDong Hot Pot delivery was having all of the food and equipment provided, allowing me to cook it myself. My roommates and I had a lot of fun learning a new way of cooking authentic Chinese cuisine.

I received a large variety of vegetables, starches, and carbohydrates to cook in boiling soup broth and spicy seasoning. The main parts of the meal for me were the noodles and meat. Together, those two, along with the other ingredients, made for a very delicious meal.

The four options of flavoring were spicy, mushroom, tomato, and original. I opted to go with spicy because that’s just my personal preference. The chicken broth and the seasoning were cooked to a boil first. Following that, I cooked the beef along with the vegetables, noodles, and three different kinds of mushrooms. Each was to be cooked in the broth and seasoning for about three to four minutes.

Here is the full list of ingredients I was given:

  • Spicy soup base
  • Chicken broth
  • Garlic sesame sauce
  • Sesame peanut butter sauce
  • Two packages of angus beef
  • Enokitake, shiitake, and king oyster mushrooms
  • Lettuce
  • Chinese cabbage
  • Noodles
  • Fried fish balls

After cooking, it was ready to be eaten almost immediately. The whole process, from setting up the pot to eating, surprisingly took no more than 10 minutes. As an added bonus, there was still enough left over for at least another meal or two for me and my roommates.

By no means am I a hot pot expert (or even a food expert), but I enjoyed every bit of the experience I had with GuDong Hot Pot Delivery. Between the delicious food, fun experience, and incredible staff, GuDong is a place that I would go back to in a heartbeat when looking for local authentic food right in the comfort of my own home.
