Car-Sharing Company Zipcar To End Service At University Park

The car rental service Zipcar announced Thursday that it will be discontinuing service at University Park on Friday, May 27. 

Although Zipcar will remove its vehicles from campus, registered members will still be able to use its services in participating cities and college campuses worldwide. 

Zipcar came to University Park in 2013, advertising its 24/7 service to State College residents. The company partnered with Penn State Transportation Services in 2021 to offer discounted memberships to Penn State students and staff. 

Zipcar was founded in 2000 in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The company has since expanded to serve over one million members.
