Clemson To Host Penn State Hoops In ACC/Big Ten Challenge November 29
Penn State men’s basketball will travel to Clemson for this year’s ACC/Big Ten Challenge on Tuesday, November 29, the program announced on Friday.
Specific broadcast information has yet to be announced, but the game will be televised on either ESPN, ESPN2, or ESPNU.
The upcoming match was initially reported by CBS Insider Jon Rothstein, before Penn State men’s basketball officially announced it on Twitter.
Historically, the Nittany Lions have faired well in this non-conference tournament event. Penn State is 11-10 all time in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge, while the Big Ten has won the challenge for the past three years.
Last year, the Nittany Lions fell to Miami in a close match. However, the team took home wins against Virginia Tech in 2020 and Wake Forest in 2019.
Penn State and Clemson will face off for the first time since 2005, making it the fourth time in program history that the Nittany Lions and the Tigers have met.
The last time the two teams met in 2005, Clemson won 96-88. This past season, Clemson was 17-16 overall and 8-12 in conference, bringing the Tigers to No. 10 in the ACC.
Micah Shrewsberry’s second year at the helm is coming together for the 2022-2023 season, with Penn State to compete in both the Charleston Classic and ACC/Big Ten Challenge for non-conference matches. The Nittany Lions will play 20 conference games this upcoming season, in addition to at least one non-conference match against Farleigh-Dickinson.
