THON To Host Hybrid 5K Run October 16

Penn Staters in State College and around the world can mark their calendars for this year’s THON 5K on Sunday, October 16.

Like last year, THON is offering the option to register in person or virtually for the 5K run.

Registration for the in-person race is $10, which can be credited to any organization. Runners can upgrade to buy this year’s THON 5K t-shirts for up to $25. Participants will be sent an email with a digital waiver to sign following their registration.

Runners who choose to participate virtually must find or create a team, set up a THON DonorDrive account, and choose a fundraising goal. Upon registration, participants will be sent a runner number. Runners can run or walk their own 5K at “any place, any pace.”

Additionally, individuals participating virtually can purchase a virtual runner’s box, which includes a runner bib, gator, shirt, and other THON goodies, through THON’s online store.

THON is offering virtual runners a free 5K training calendar to help runners prepare at three different difficulty levels. 5K course maps for State College, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Harrisburg, Erie, Charlotte, and Houston are also available.
