Penn State Hoops’ Top 2023 Recruiting Targets

Penn State men’s basketball has done well for itself on the recruiting trails so far. The commitments of four-star forward Carey Booth and three-star guards Braeden Shrewsberry and Logan Imes have created a solid 2023 recruiting class to this point.

With that said, there are at least five roster spots up for grabs due to seniors graduating after this season. Head coach Micah Shrewsberry and his staff still have some major pieces on the board, and they could be on the move fast.

Here are some of the recruits that Shrewsberry and Co. could possibly add in the near future.

Isaiah Collier, Guard

Isaiah Collier is one of the best players in the country, and he’s taking his time going through each offer and seeing what sticks out to him. That means Penn State is still involved with the five-star guard as he narrows down his options, even if it appears to be a long shot at the moment.

Collier would elevate the Nittany Lions instantly. He would become the primary ball-handler and provide a big spark on offense. If Penn State is serious about bringing him in, it’ll have to do it fast. He has already visited five schools, which would presumably give those schools the upper hand currently.

Amani Hansberry, Forward

One of the biggest targets for the Nittany Lions, Amani Hansberry, would be huge for this team. He would join Booth as the future in the front court and would add a lot of size to an already small roster. He even visited Penn State very early in his recruitment and has consistently been in contact with the team.

Despite all this, Hansberry is being heavily recruited by Illinois. It looks like a fight between the two programs, and he will more than likely be deciding between the two programs when he commits on Sunday, August 28.

Reid Ducharme, Forward

Ducharme has been another major target for Shrewsberry. The top-100 forward visited Penn State in June, and a couple of months before that, Shrewsberry visited him back in his home state of Massachusetts. The two have been very connected for most of his recruitment. With a decision coming up, Ducharme will be deciding between the Nittany Lions, Xavier, and Syracuse.

Elmarko Jackson, Guard

The four-star guard has taken his time making a college decision, and Penn State is in the thick of it. Jackson would immediately fill in for Camren Wynter and Jalen Pickett when they graduate due to his quickness and shooting ability.

Jackson doesn’t have a set time for announcing his recruitment, but that could change as the high school basketball season rolls around. Big Ten rivals Maryland and Michigan are also heavily involved and will be stiff competition for the Nittany Lions.

Dennis Parker, Forward

Parker has been an under-the-radar recruit for Penn State. The Nittany Lions have been more active with Hansberry and Ducharme, but he’s still in play for the Nittany Lions. With Seth Lundy being near the end of his Penn State career, Parker could fill that role.

He’s not close to making a decision and has not scheduled any visits yet. However, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Penn State push hard to be on his list once his recruitment advances.
