Offensive Tackle Maleek McNeil No Longer With Penn State Football

Freshman offensive tackle Maleek McNeil is no longer on Penn State football’s team roster, as confirmed by a team spokesperson.

When attempting to access McNeil’s page on the team’s webpage, the following error notice appears.

Committing to Penn State in May 2021, McNeil joined the class as a three-star offensive lineman. The Easthampton, Massachusetts, native hasn’t logged a single appearance during the 2022 season thus far.

This is the second instance of a Nittany Lion exiting the team during the ongoing season. After the team’s game against Northwestern in October, head coach James Franklin announced junior running back Devyn Ford was no longer with the team. Running back Caziah Holmes similarly left the program prior to the season’s kickoff.

McNeil’s departure is the latest blow to a thinning Penn State offensive line.

With the season-ending injury to starting guard Landon Tengwall, as well as lingering health concerns hampering left tackle Olu Fashanu and right tackle Caedan Wallace, the Nittany Lions’ offensive line is tapping into the reserves. Epitomizing the struggles, true freshman Drew Shelton, who joined the team alongside McNeil in the Class of 2022, has started the last two games at left tackle.
