Report: Former Penn State Cornerback John Reid Signs With Tennessee Titans

Former Penn State defensive back John Reid was signed by the Tennessee Titans on Tuesday, per a report from NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero. Reid was signed off of the Atlanta Falcons’ practice squad, which he joined in November.

The signing of Reid marks one of Ryan Cowden’s first moves as the Titans’ new interim general manager. The Titans fired previous general manager Jon Robinson Tuesday morning, so it didn’t take long for the new leadership’s transactions to begin.

In 2020, Reid was drafted in the fourth round by the Houston Texans. The Nittany Lion played for a single season in Houston before being traded to the Seattle Seahawks. The Seahawks released him on October 12, prompting his deal with the Falcons’ practice squad.

Reid hasn’t made a game appearance since week 16 in 2021 with Seattle, though, so far in his career, the defensive back has totaled 25 tackles and three pass defenses in 24 games. Reid started two games during Seattle’s 2021 campaign.

Through his five-year career at Penn State, Reid logged 48 game appearances. In those games, Reid recorded 83 tackles, seven interceptions, and two fumble recoveries.

Although Reid played four seasons with the Nittany Lions, he was with the program for five. His 2017 season began before it started when he suffered a season-ending knee injury in spring practice.
