Tussey Mountain Temporarily Changes Ski Slope Name Ahead Of Rose Bowl

While Penn State football’s Rose Bowl matchup with Utah is set for January 2, the local State College community is already ahead of the Utes in the off-field banter battle.

Tussey Mountain Ski Area announced a temporary name change to its slope named “Utah” Wednesday afternoon. Instead, the mountain run will operate under the title “Pennsylvania” beginning on New Year’s Eve through 9 p.m. on January 2.

“For over five decades, Penn Staters have found the best view of Beaver Stadium and Happy Valley from the top of a slope named Utah, at Tussey Mountain Ski Area,” Tussey Mountain wrote in a press release. “On the eve of this year’s Rose Bowl matchup…this iconic mountain run will see a temporary name change — to Pennsylvania.”

Additionally, Tussey Mountain Bar and Kitchen will show the game live for skiers looking to make the most of the recent White Out conditions across the State College area.

The 2023 Rose Bowl will kick off at 5 p.m. EST on Monday, January 2, and will air live on ESPN.
