Penn State Men’s Soccer Ranked No. 14 In United Soccer Coaches Weekly Poll

Penn State men’s soccer jumped six spots to No. 14 in the United Soccer Coaches weekly poll Tuesday.

The Nittany Lions have yet to lose a game this season after drawing defending National Champion Syracuse Friday and blanking St. John’s Monday. Syracuse was ranked No. 1 heading into the game and was nearly defeated by Penn State, however, the Orange scored a last-second equalizer to preserve a tie.

Peter Mangione and Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week Alex Stevenson scored goals en route to the Nittany Lions’ 2-0 victory over the Red Storm. Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week Kris Shakes tallied nine saves throughout the week on the way to his 17th career shutout.

The Nittany Lions will remain in Happy Valley and challenge Penn at 7 p.m. on Friday, September 8, at Jeffrey Field.
