Penn State Men’s Soccer Forward Liam Butts Earns Weekly Honors

Penn State men’s soccer attacker Liam Butts was named Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week and a part of the College Soccer News National Team of the Week, both organizations announced. His Big Ten award marked the fourth weekly award this season for Penn State.

Butts scored all three goals in the Nittany Lions’ shutout win against Ohio State last week for the team’s Big Ten season opener, all unassisted. His hat trick marked the first for the Penn State men’s soccer since Peter Mangione’s against Villanova in 2021.

The hat trick marked Butt’s first goals of the season, after scoring seven last year and earning Second-Team All-Big Ten honors. The star attacker returned to Happy Valley for his fifth year in 2023, adding to his 25 career goals in blue and white.
