Brainstorming Penn State-Inspired Jumbotron Distractions

In football, fanbases would do just about anything to help their team gain an advantage over their opponent.

Maryland’s football took this to a new level Saturday as it displayed the viral meme of actor Kevin James on its scoreboard when the opposing kicker was attempting an extra point after a touchdown.

So we got to thinking… what could Penn State throw on the Beaver Stadium jumbotron to distract opponents?

Let’s take a look at some of the options we’re hoping to see grace the home of the Nittany Lions soon.

The Willard Preacher

Imagine a scenario where the opposing team is kicking a field goal to win the game, and Gary pops up on the jumbotron.

This may be more effective than calling a timeout to freeze the kicker.

Beaver Stadium Squirrel

The squirrel who took Beaver Stadium by storm in Penn State’s week one matchup against West Virginia knows a thing or two about distracting people.

The squirrel has captivated the attention of 110,000 people before, but all it takes is one distracted kicker to call this a win.

THON Line Dance

As a kicker, it would be hard to focus with thousands of fans screaming “FTK, run it back, BJC is boomin.'”

There’s also no chance the kicker could resist breaking into a boogie when Harry Styles’ “As It Was” fades into “I Just Wanna Rock” in the line dance. No chance.

Cocktagon

Non-Penn Staters may not understand the chokehold that cocktagons have on us. They see a porta potty, but we see a tailgate symbol. Why not throw it on the jumbotron?

CATA Bus

I would love to see a kicker attempt a field goal with a CATA bus staring down at them. While we’re at it, let’s have the horn blasting at them as well.

Literally Me

Why? I think my mom would appreciate seeing my face.
