Penn State Men’s Hockey Jumps To No. 12 In USCHO Rankings

Penn State men’s hockey moved six spots to No. 12 in this week’s USCHO Poll.

The Nittany Lions were previously ranked No. 18.

After the second week of its campaign, Penn State’s two hard-fought victories over Clarkson and St. Lawrence aided the team’s jump in the polls.

Conference foes Minnesota (No. 1), Michigan (No. 7), Michigan State (No. 8), and Ohio State (No. 13) also ranked in the weekly ranking.

The Nittany Lions pulled off a 4-2 victory over Clarkson on Friday in Potsdam, highlighted by goals from Simon Mack, Christian Sarlo, Ryan Kirwan, and Chase McLane.

Just two days later, Penn State produced another four-goal outing and came up victorious over St. Lawrence on its New York road trip. Jacques Bouquot, Jarod Crespo, Kirwan, and Alex Servagno found the back of the net to help the Nittany Lions return to Happy Valley 3-0.

The group will now face the AIC Yellowjackets in their home opener at Pegula Ice Arena at 7 p.m. on Friday, October 20. The series finale will take place at 5 p.m. on Sunday, October 21.
