Penn State Football Defensive Tackle Dvon Ellies Returning For 2024 Season
Penn State football defensive tackle Dvon Ellies will return to Penn State for the 2024 season and forgo the NFL Draft, he announced Wednesday. Ellies was the second Penn Stater to announce his return to the team for the 2024 season after tight end Tyler Warren.
“God got me! Let’s do it,” was all Ellies wrote in his post.
Ellies was a key cog in Penn State’s defensive line this year, holding the middle of the line together while paired alongside three defensive ends James Franklin considered starters. He appeared in all 13 games for Penn State, making 26 total tackles paired with five tackles for loss. Ellies declined to say if he would declare for the draft at the Peach Bowl and his decision to return was somewhat surprising.
Ellis spent the last five years at Penn State, earning reps on the field in all of them. While he didn’t see much action his freshman season, he played in more games in his sophomore year and played in each game from his junior year on. He finished with 59 total tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, and a forced fumble.
Penn State’s defensive line will need some work with the losses of Chop Robinson and Adisa Isaac to the NFL Draft, but Ellies will still have top defensive end prospect Dani Dennis-Sutton alongside him.
