Tasty K & Student Influencers Lending A Hand To State College Community

When Tasty K opened downtown this fall, CEO and owner Andy Lee shared he has a passion for cultivating community and culture.

Since August, Tasty K has donated 80 boxes of chicken over Thanksgiving to foster homes, homeless shelters, firefighters, and veterans. Not only has it donated food, but Lee also fulfilled the Christmas wishlists of eight children, too.

To truly connect with the Penn State community, Lee has recruited Penn State students Dylan Dawson, Luke Blauch, Hannah Jackson, and Carlyn Cefaratti to help carry out his college town mission.

Lee reached out to Dawson and the other students to spread the word and work of Tasty K across campus, and they’ve made countless videos since.

In a collaboration with The Daily Collegian, Dawson, Jackson, and Cefaratti went downtown to hand out free chicken samples to promote the store and its donations. For every 10 boxes of chicken bought until November 17, one was donated to foster homes in the nearby area.

With Blauch leading the way behind the camera, Dawson, Jackson, and Cefaratti have been active in the community with Lee since September. Not only have they been creating content, but they’ve gone alongside Lee to see those they are helping.

“The one day Luke and I went with Andy, we went to one of the families who had moved out of the shelter and had dinner with them and went to pick up groceries for them. He’s just always helping wherever he can,” Dawson said of Lee.

There’s no real structure to their collaborations, and it’s mostly comprised of brainstorming within the group about the best ways to stay active in the Penn State community.

Through the help of Jackson, Cefaratti, and Dawson’s platform and influence, Tasty K has sponsored tailgates, club and sorority bonding events, and is currently giving away two Drake concert tickets.

The students post about Tasty K on their social media accounts, but Dawson’s Penn State game recaps are often sponsored by Tasty K to help expand the business’s reach. While there is some help through sponsorships, none of the students are receiving any pay for their help.

Jackson, Cefaratti, Dawson, and Blauch help Lee spread his business and kindness so that Tasty K can continue to give back to the community.
