Two Penn State Men’s Lacrosse Players Earn Big Ten Men’s Lacrosse Weekly Awards

Penn State men’s lacrosse freshman Kyle Lehman was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week, and Matt Traynor earned Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week honors after an 18-10 bounce-back win over Villanova.

In the victory over the Wildcats, Lehman scored three goals and recorded his second hat trick of the season, and he also tallied three goals in the team’s season-opening loss to Colgate, leading him to be named the conference’s Freshman of the Week.

Traynor, a junior, was named Offensive Player of the Week after scoring a career-high six goals against Villanova. Traynor, who put seven shots on goal on nine total shots, now has eight goals this season.

After being ranked No. 4 in the preseason poll, the Nittany Lions fell to No. 15 with their loss to Colgate but jumped two spots in the most recent poll to No. 13.

Penn State will aim to follow its win over Villanova when it travels to Stony Brook at noon on Saturday, February 17. The game will be streamed on LacrosseTV.
