Penn State Things Longer Than The THON 2024 Water Fountain Line

If you’re planning to be at THON for the long haul, you’ll cross paths with the water fountain a handful of times. It’d be a rare sight for the line to the fountain to be any fewer than 10 people and an even larger number for the amount of minutes you’ll be waiting there. Many will wait as long as possible to avoid the dreaded line but disregarding a basic human need can only go on for so long.

To put the line into perspective, we decided to compile Penn State-themed things that are longer than the line itself.

The Wait For WALK THE MOON To Take The Stage

10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1!

A 10-second countdown followed by a five-minute wait for the surprise performers to take the stage prefaced WALK THE MOON’s performance. We aren’t sure if someone was late, gave the wrong cue, or there was a simple miscommunication, but everyone was on the edge of their seats for an awkwardly amount of time. It’s all good though, they eventually made it, and they rocked.

Brothers Bar & Grill’s Line On Opening Day

I acknowledge the smart decision of opening the bar and grill on THON Weekend to smoothen things out before State Patty’s the following weekend. This would lead you to believe that it would be pretty empty considering it’s the night before THON. Wrong. There was a line down the block on South Allen Street. What can we say, the people were excited for a new bar.

Carter Starocci’s Win Streak

The dominant wrestler in the 174-pound division has won 62 straight duals, and there doesn’t seem to be anything slowing him down. He’s on track to become the first Penn State wrestler in program history to win four national championships.

75-Minute Lectures

You would think having three 50-minute lectures would be worse than two 75-minute lectures. That’s where you’re wrong. Many would much rather make the trek to campus three times a week rather than twice just to sit through the shorter lectures.

Penn State Football’s Wait To Make the College Football Playoff

The College Football Playoff was implemented in 2014, and 10 years later, Penn State has yet to make a single appearance. Some would argue that the team was snubbed in the 2016 season after beating Ohio State and eventually becoming the Big Ten champion. Next year can finally be the year when the playoff format expands to 12 teams.

Walking To The Bar

There should be low expectations for a Pennsylvania school to have warm weather. Unless you’re going out in September or April, you’ll likely be shivering on your way to your favorite bar. The sad truth is that it never feels any shorter the more that you do it.

46 Hours At THON

If you ask a dancer how long the 46 hours are, they’ll either give you a sarcastic remark or spill the truth of how grueling it was for them. Shoutout to everyone who has danced in THON and currently is.
