Nittany Lion Inn To Reopen In September 2024

The historic Nittany Lion Inn will reopen to the public in September after its closure in March 2020, according to a release from the Scholar Hotel Group Thursday.

The hotel underwent “extensive renovations and enhancements” and will display a “revitalized experience.”

“We are delighted to announce the reopening of the Nittany Lion Inn, a cherished institution in our community,” Scholar Hotel CEO Gary Brandeis said. “As we prepare to welcome guests once again, we invite them to rediscover the timeless allure of this historic inn and create new memories that will last a lifetime.”

Guests can begin making reservations at the inn at noon on Monday, March 4, for stays beginning Monday, September 2.

The Nittany Lion Inn was planned to be utilized for single-occupancy isolation spaces during the fall 2020 semester for students who tested positive for COVID-19 or were in contact with confirmed cases. After a change of plans, the hotel served as an on-campus living space and home to a handful of classrooms.

Since 2020, the Nittany Lion Inn, though, the hotel has been vacant. It was purchased in June 2022 by the Scholar Hotel Group after approval by the Board of Trustees.

The Nittany Lion Inn has been a staple to the Penn State and State College community since its opening in 1931.
