Two Penn State Men’s Lacrosse Players Earn Big Ten Weekly Awards

Penn State men’s lacrosse freshman Kyle Lehman was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week, and TJ Malone earned Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week honors following a 14-8 win against Michigan on Senior Night Saturday.

In the Nittany Lions’ victory over the Wolverines, Lehman scored three goals and recorded his third hat trick of the season. In the first quarter alone, back-to-back Lehman goals put the Nittany Lions up 3-1, leading him to be named the conference’s Freshman of the Week.

Malone, in his graduate season, was named Offensive Player of the Week after leading the Nittany Lions with his second seven-point game of the season with five goals and two assists.

Malone and Lehman’s performance helped hold the Wolverines to eight points, the eighth time the Nittany Lions have kept a team under 10 goals this season.

Following their win over Michigan, the Nittany Lions jumped two spots from No. 11 to No. 10 in the most recent Inside Lacrosse ranking.

Penn State takes the field next when it travels to Rutgers at 6 p.m. on Friday, April 19. The game will be streamed on the Big Ten Network.
