Penn State Men’s Lacrosse Earns Two Big Ten Weekly Awards

Penn State men’s lacrosse earned a pair of Big Ten weekly awards, the conference announced Tuesday afternoon. TJ Malone was named Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week and Will Costin was named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week.

Malone earned his award for the third time this season. Malone posted four goals and one assist in Penn State’s 15-9 win over Rutgers to close the regular season. The game marked Malone’s seventh this season recording more than five points. The captain currently leads the Big Ten in points and sits second in assists, with 32 goals and 29 assists for 61 points on the season.

Costin was named Defensive Player of the Week for the first time this year. Costin led the Penn State defense with his three caused turnovers and four ground balls in the victory over Rutgers. The defenseman tied his career-high for caused turnovers and recorded a career-high on ground balls in the game. Costin has 10 caused turnovers and 15 ground balls on the year.

The Nittany Lions will return to action at 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 27, for a rematch against Rutgers in the first round of the Big Ten Tournament.
