Penn State Softball Pitcher Bridget Nemeth Named To NFCA Division I Freshman of the Year Top-25 Watch List

Penn State softball pitcher Bridget Nemeth was named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division I Freshman of the Year Top 25 watch list, the organization announced Thursday.

Nemeth was the only player from the Big Ten nominated for the award and would be the first Nittany Lion to ever receive the honor. The Glendora, California, native has received four Big Ten weekly awards and is a two-time D1Softball National Freshman of the Week selection.

With a 21-3 record, Nemeth is third in the nation in total wins behind a 1.43 ERA. Nemeth also leads the Big Ten with a 5.20 strikeout-to-walk ratio.

Nemeth and Penn State will return to Beard Field at 5 p.m. on Friday, April 26, for the “Wear White” game against Michigan.
