No. 7 Seed Penn State Softball To Open Big Ten Tournament Against No. 10 Seed Maryland

Penn State softball earned the No. 7 seed in the Big Ten Tournament and will face No. 10-seeded Maryland at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 8, in Iowa City, Iowa, in the first round.

After starting the season 15-1, the Nittany Lions finished the regular season with a 34-17 overall record and went 12-11 in conference play. Despite the best efforts of freshman pitcher Bridget Nemeth, Penn State lost its last two series of the season against Michigan and Rutgers.

Penn State played the Terrapins in a home series at the end of March, winning two of three games.

The winner of the first-round game will move on to face No. 2-seeded Michigan in the quarterfinals at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 9.
