Penn State Men’s Lacrosse Alumni Grant Ament & Mac O’Keefe Clinch Premier Lacrosse League Championship

Penn State is taking over the Premier Lacrosse League.

Penn State men’s lacrosse alumni Grant Ament and Mac O’Keefe won the Premier Lacrosse League championship game on Sunday afternoon.

The Utah Archers beat the Maryland Whipsnakes 12-8, and fellow Penn State alumnus T.J. Malone came in second place after earning the league’s Rookie of the Year title.

This marks back-to-back titles for the Archers after winning the league in 2023. The victory marker Ament’s first championship and O’Keefe’s second.

Ament tallied a goal and an assist in the championship, giving the Archers a lead they never lost. O’Keefe secured a hat trick to clinch the title.

In his five years at Penn State, Ament totaled 284 points and was a three-time All-American, setting numerous Penn State records. The attacker was also Penn State’s first-ever Tewaaraton Award finalist.

Ament was the No. 1 pick in the 2020 Premier Lacrosse League College Draft and has been a star within the league ever since. Through his 45 regular-season games, Ament has tallied 136 points with the Archers along with 57 groundballs and 82 caused turnovers.

Ament is a two-time All-Star in the Premier Lacrosse League and picked up Attacker of the Year and First-Team All-Pro honors in the 2021 season.

O’Keefe was a star attacker for the Nittany Lions. While in Happy Valley, the left-handed sharpshooter scored 221 goals — the most in NCAA Division I lacrosse history. He holds the second-highest point total in Big Ten and program history with 269 and was a two-time Tewaaraton Nominee.

O’Keefe was the No. 6 pick in the 2021 Premier Lacrosse League College Draft. The attacker has played 49 regular-season games for the league and recorded 107 points over 74 goals, 51 ground balls, and 46 caused turnovers.

O’Keefe also joins Ament as an All-Star in 2023 and 2024.

Both Ament and O’Keefe will take the championship banner back to Utah and begin preparing to defend their Premier Lacrosse League Championship title.
