Abdul Carter Named Reese’s Senior Bowl Co-Defensive Player Of The Week

Penn State football defensive end Abdul Carter was named the Reese’s Senior Bowl Co-Defensive Player of the Week, the organization announced Monday. Carter’s honor, shared with Texas A&M’s Nic Scourton, came after a strong performance in the Nittany Lions’ 21-7 win over Illinois.

Carter was responsible for seven tackles, four of them being solo tackles, four tackles for loss, one forced fumble, one pass breakup, and two sacks. Carter’s strip-sack of Illinois Luke Altmyer late in the fourth quarter helped seal the Nittany Lions win over the Fighting Illini 21-7.

Through the first four games, Carter has totaled 12 solo tackles, three sacks, and 19 total tackles.

Carter and the Nittany Lions are next set for a date with UCLA at noon on Saturday, October 5, at Beaver Stadium.
