Drew Allar Not Taking Opportunities For Granted Ahead Of USC Game
As Penn State football gets set for its first trip to the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum since 1991, quarterback Drew Allar is eager to seize his Hollywood moment.
The Nittany Lions are undefeated and ranked No. 4 in the AP Poll. But for Allar, that’s all just talk.
“As far as external pressure and outside noise, I couldn’t care less,” Allar said Wednesday.
Entering what is poised to be Penn State’s biggest game of the year thus far, the only pressure Allar’s feeling comes from within.
“I don’t think anybody has higher expectations for ourselves than us,” he said.
The junior is optimistic that the team will be able to continue what it has done so well thus far in the season: execute. Allar believes offensive coordinator Andy Kotelnicki has done a great job with the team when it comes to communicating and adapting to in-game miscues and is looking forward to demonstrating this on the national stage.
Allar knows just how bright the lights are in Los Angeles. Well-versed on the storied history of the Coliseum, he is highly anticipating his chance to shine in USC’s stadium. Referencing the likes of Trojan legends Matt Leinart, Reggie Bush, and Carson Palmer, Allar admired the great football players who have graced the field he will be playing on.
“It’s one of the best parts about college football, taking in these opportunities and not taking them for granted,” Allar said.
But while the three aforementioned legends made highlight reels in cardinal and gold, Allar has confidence that he and the stars alongside him will be able to shine, starting with the wideouts, and continuing with the return of explosive running back Nick Singleton.
“At the end of the day, just taking what the defense gives me, giving them an accurate football, and letting them make the play,” Allar said.
Cherishing this moment to represent Penn State across the nation, Allar and the Penn State offense are ready for what USC has in store.
“It’s going to be a fun game, no matter what,” said Allar.
