Penn State Women’s Soccer Lands Three Players On TopDrawerSoccer’s Top-100 Players List

Penn State women’s soccer players Mieke Schiemann, Kaitlyn MacBean, and Ginger Fontenot were named to the TopDrawerSoccer Midseason Top-100 Players List on Monday.

The Nittany Lions are 11-3-2 on the season, with only three games left to play.

MacBean came in at No. 4 on the list, after a phenomenal season for the Nittany Lions. The redshirt senior has started all 16 games, recording 12 goals and one assist with 27 points. In her Penn State career, the forward has racked up 26 goals and eight assists. MacBean added another goal to her tally during Sunday’s thrilling win over Minnesota.

Schiemann has started in 15 games for the Nittany Lions, notching three goals and one assist from the backline. The defender from Germany has been an anchor for them all season long, helping secure eight clean sheets. She was ranked No. 50 on the list.

Schiemann has played in 78 games so far in her Penn State career, scoring 11 goals and eight assists with 30 points.

Fontenot closed out the Nittany Lions, coming in at No. 80 on the list. The graduate defender was one of the most dominant defensive players in the Ivy League before transferring to Happy Valley. She has started all 16 games for Penn State and has been a true force to be reckoned with on the backline.

Together with Schiemann, she has helped keep the eight clean sheets and has stopped countless attacks on goal.

The Nittany Lions return to action on Thursday, October 17, as they travel to Los Angeles to take on UCLA. Kickoff will take place at 10:30 p.m.
