Brainstorming Penn State Hoops-Themed ‘Rothsteinisms’ For 2024-25 Season
Penn State men’s basketball is right around the corner, folks.
College basketball fans around the country are familiar with CBS Sports Insider Jon Rothstein and his tweets, also known as “Rothsteinisms.”
Many teams have specific sayings Rothstein has given them, however, Penn State doesn’t have anything…yet. While former head coach Micah Shrewsberry was given the term “More Plays Than Broadway,” Rothstein hasn’t updated his Penn State slang or given anything to head coach Mike Rhoades.
So, we decided to brainstorm some options Rothstein could go with for the Nittany Lions in the upcoming season.
“Ace Baldwin Jr. A Handful”
Similar to holding a deck of cards that includes an ace, opposing teams have their hands full when being guarded by Baldwin. The point guard and reigning Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year is a nightmare for other teams, and they have a lot to deal with when seeing Baldwin on the other side of the floor.
“State College. Somewhere In Central Pennsylvania”
Rothstein used the song “Omaha” by Counting Crows to create his saying for Creighton, which is “Omaha. Somewhere in Middle America.” So, it’s time he creates a similar one for State College, which is known for being in the middle of nowhere in the center of Pennsylvania.
“Bryce Jordan Center. 720 Curtin Rhoade.”
Creative, right? The address of Bryce Jordan Center is 720 Curtin Road Rhoade. With Rhoades at the helm, the BJC may be booming this season, which would prompt Rothstein to create a tweet regarding Penn State’s arena.
“Mike Rhoades. More Like Mike Rhace Tracks”
See what we did there? Rhoades came into Penn State prior to last season and had to quickly build a roster. He jumped into the coaching role quickly and outperformed many expectations in his first year with the Nittany Lions. With that speed of rebuilding his team, it seems like he’s on a race track instead of a road.
“Yanic Konan Niederhauser. A Lion Beats A Husky”
After spending two seasons as a Husky of Northern Illinois, Yanic Konan Niederhauser transferred to Penn State and is expected to make an immediate impact. When Niederhauser’s production increases from the previous two years, Rothstein should note that Nittany Lions are above Huskies.
