Controversial Speakers Milo Yiannopoulos & Martin Shkreli Coming To Penn State October 28

Right-wing political commentator and political provocateur Milo Yiannopoulos is set to appear at Penn State with Uncensored America on Monday, October 28, at the Bryce Jordan Center. He will be joined by Martin Shkerili, an American businessman who served five years in federal prison for financial crimes.

Doors for the event are set to open at 7 p.m., with the event itself starting at 8 p.m.

Yiannopoulos, according to Uncensored America’s release, is a “reformed sodomite, a global political sensation, a free speech martyr, an accomplished serial entrepreneur, a hair icon, a penitent, and, to the annoyance of his many enemies, a happy person.”

Yiannopoulos is a British political commentator who served as the editor of Breitbart News for four years. According to Buzzfeed News, Yiannopoulos took editing and story ideas from white supremacists. He was also banned from Twitter and Facebook in the 2010s. Yiannopoulos resigned from Breitbart after video surfaced of him saying 13-year-old boys could have relationships with older men, and that 13-year-old boys could be “sexually mature.”

Yiannopoulos most recently served on the staff of congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene.

Yiannopoulos last appeared at Penn State with Uncensored America in 2021. The tagline for his event, “Pray the Gay Away,” sparked controversy on campus. He also tried to visit Penn State in 2016, though that event was canceled.

Shkreli, according to Uncensored America’s release, spent five years in prison “after making a joke about Hillary Clinton.” Shkreli was charged with securities fraud in 2015, sentenced to seven years in jail in 2017, and was released in 2022.

According to University Park Allocation Committee (UPAC) minutes, Uncensored America was given $15,990.26 by UPAC to fund the event. The fee covered Yiannopoulos’ flight and speaker fees and Shkreli’s flight fees.

The Student Committee for Defense and Solidarity will protest Yiannopoulos and Shrkeli’s appearance on October 28.
