Penn State Wrestlers Appear On Stage With Donald Trump At Campaign Rally

A group of Penn State current and former wrestlers got on stage at former President Donald Trump’s campaign rally at the Bryce Jordan Center on Saturday. Just more than a dozen Nittany Lions stood on stage for a few minutes after Trump invited the team up.

Before the group got on stage, Trump took time at the beginning of his speech to talk about Penn State’s reputation in wrestling.

“Dream big like your wrestling team dreams big,” Trump told the crowd. “Jim Jordan told me about you guys. Look at those muscles all over the place.

“Maybe I’ll wrestle one or two of them. That’ll be an upset.”

Trump also spoke about his time as a student at Penn, though he noted the Quakers’ wrestling team wouldn’t compete with the Nittany Lions.

“The best one would’ve lasted a minute with these characters,” Trump said.

Trump invited the team on stage about an hour into his speech, which began around 5:40 p.m. With the team on stage, Trump referenced his friendship with former Penn State wrestler Bo Nickal.

“I don’t know if this platform can hold them because that’s a lot of muscle,” Trump said as the players made their way to the stage. “These guys are something. That’s a lot of muscle.”

As the group got up on stage, the crowd in the Bryce Jordan Center began a “We Are” chant.

Zain Rutherford spoke briefly spoke to the crowd, encouraging them to vote before the wrestlers departed the stage.
