The 2024 election isn’t completely settled, but we have a good idea of which way the votes have fallen. With Donald Trump set as the next president of the United States, Pennsylvania and Centre County played key roles in his election.
From the presidential race to state-wide and local elections, here’s how Centre County, home of Penn State and State College, voted in 2024 with around 95% of votes counted in Pennsylvania.
President
Centre County fell in favor of Trump in 2024. The county voted for Joe Biden in 2020, but became one of many Pennsylvania counties that saw its votes for the Republican candidate increase across four years.
Trump took Centre County with 51.3% of the vote. Kamala Harris took 47.2%, while Libertarian Chase Oliver took 0.6% of the vote.
US Senate
Republican Dave McCormick defeated incumbent Democrat Bob Casey in another upset for control of one of Pennsylvania’s U.S. Senate seats. McCormick took 50.6% of Centre County’s vote, while Casey took 46.8% of the vote.
US House
Republican Glenn Thompson took Pennsylvania District 15, representing all of Centre County and all or parts of several other area counties, over Democrat Zach Womer. Thompson won in a landslide, taking 72.9% of the vote to Womer’s 27.1%. According to unofficial data from Centre County, Thompson won 36,070 votes in Centre County, while Womer won 29,293 votes.
