[Photo Story] Students Hold Vigil For Downtown McDonald’s Closing

The downtown State College McDonald’s has officially closed its doors, according to a sign on the door. Following the news, Barstool Penn State quickly announced a candlelit vigil scheduled for Sunday night.

To no surprise, many students showed up to mourn the closing of the once-beloved McDonald’s.

Numerous attendees spoke in commemoration of the beloved fast-food spot. Though some were from fake fans who never visited, most were heartfelt. One student even led the crowd in prayer.

Along with the speeches, attendees played music in observance of McDonald’s death. Songs included “Taps,” “Amazing Grace,” “Over the Rainbow,” the Alma Mater, and, to close it off, “Mo Bamba.”

The downtown State College McDonald’s will be missed by all who attended the vigil until it returns with the high-rise apartment building that will replace it. Rest in peace.
