Onward State is hiring for the spring semester and wants to bring aboard its next generation of writers, photographers, and graphic designers to join our team. If you want your work to be seen by hundreds of thousands of people, then a role with Onward State is for you. We’re looking for gritty, hard-working, and awesome Penn State students to join our team with the world’s finest student-run news outlet.

Onward State is, quite simply, Penn State’s blog. Since three freshmen got together in 43 Simmons in November 2008, we’ve provided a combination of commentary that is fair, authentic, and sometimes humorous; analysis that is critical and irreverent; and news that is relevant and accurate.

At Onward State, we cover anything relating to Penn State and the surrounding area. We break news of politicians visiting, and canceling visits, to town. We cover Penn State’s Board of Trustees and student government. We write about protests, concerts, and other on-campus events. We cover Penn State football, from West Lafayette, Indiana, to Miami, Florida, along with 14 other Division I programs. We also have some fun, living in the HUB for 24 hours, taking deep dives into Star Wars/Abdul Carter lore, proposing new bar crawls, and much, much more.
