Penn State Women’s Hockey Katie DeSa Named AHA Goaltender Of The Month

For the second time this season, Katie DeSa received Atlantic Hockey America’s nomination for the Goaltender of the Month, the conference announced Tuesday.
DeSa had five shutout wins in January, helping the Nittany Lions to nine straight victories. The junior secured an impressive 207 saves with a save percentage of .957 this month. In the most recent matchup against No. 3 Minnesota, DeSa had 32 saves that led to the 6-2 win against the Golden Gophers.
The Nittany Lion is 22-4-0 on the season, which is good enough for second in the nation. She also ranks eighth in save percentage with .940. DeSa has the second-most wins by a goalie in program history with eight shutout wins on the season, also landing her second all-time in program history in the category.
Penn State women’s hockey will face Mercyhurst at 6 p.m. on Friday, February 7, in Pegula Ice Arena.
