Multiple False Fire Alarms Pause THON 2025

Update, 8;42 p.m.

THON media relations team member Kaitlyn Wolfe released the following statement to Onward State after Friday evening’s false fire emergency alarms.

“On Friday evening of THON Weekend, a fire alarm at the Bryce Jordan Center was accidentally activated. Emergency services and personnel responded quickly in accordance with Bryce Jordan Center’s established safety protocols. After a thorough assessment, it was confirmed that there was no threat to the safety of our participants, attendees or the venue. We are pleased to report that there were no injuries, and the events of THON Weekend safely resumed. We appreciate the professionalism of our team and first responders, as well as the patience and understanding of the THON community as we continue to support this important cause.”

Original Story:

Multiple false fire alarm emergencies have paused THON 2025 in the Bryce Jordan Center on Friday night.

One fire alarm rang out as folks were told to evacuate the building before a message flashed across the screens instructing attendees to remain in place. Moments later, a THON representative on stage told folks there was no emergency.

A second fire emergency alarm rang out moments later, but the message still flashed across the screens that folks should remain in place. Again, a THON representative came on stage to tell attendees there was no emergency and THON would resume its normal scheduling.

THON told Onward State it would provide details on the situation once it receives a full report.

Onward State will update this post as the situation unfolds.
