What’s Missing From The THON 2025 Line Dance?

We’re so back, folks.
Another THON means it’s time to see what happened since last February. In the last year, we had everything from the Costco guys to Kendrick Lamar and Drake’s beef. There’s so much that can happen in a span of the year that not everything can make it into the beloved Line Dance.
Let’s take a look to see what was missing.
College Football 25 Video Game
The release of Electronic Arts’ college football video game was a decade in the making. People were so eager to purchase and play the game that it became the most-sold sports video game ever. That’s probably enough for it to be mentioned at some point.
Sketch (What’s Up Brother!)
The content creator, Sketch, took the internet by storm in 2024. He’s most notably known for his phrase, “What’s up, brother?” while holding up a finger. There was a stretch of a few months where you couldn’t escape the phrase in public. We were so sure we would all pause and say the phrase at some point in the song.
Bo Nickal
The former Penn State wrestler is making a name for himself in the UFC. In 2024, he won fights in UFC 300 and UFC 309. The crowds watching him at Champs Downtown and Brothers warrant a mention for the Nittany Lion legend.
m00bie
We feel if we got a lyric for the TikTok creator m00bie, the crowd would’ve gone wild. Maybe they wanted to avoid saying “sit on it” while standing for 46 hours.
Squid Game 2
When the second season of “Squid Game” was released, the show took over the internet just like it did in 2021 when it first came out. The second season brought memorable taglines like, “Hold still,” and, “I’ve played these games before.”
U.S. Olympic Wrestling Trials
This may seem a bit niche, but the event was hosted in the Bryce Jordan Center. At the trials, we witnessed many Penn State wrestlers, past and present, compete and even clinch their spots on the U.S. Olympic team. If the Luke Combs’ concert in Beaver Stadium was mentioned, then why not throw in this, too?
Morgan Wallen Throwing Chair
We’re not sure how they would’ve been able to write a lyric out of this, but we can see it fitting nicely in the pop culture verse. Perhaps a photo of his mugshot in the video would be a little too crazy for an event like THON.
‘Cooper DeJean Is Not A Safety’
Before anyone tells us why it wasn’t in the song, trust us, we understand. Cooper DeJean played for Big Ten foe Iowa, and the Eagles were mentioned with Saquon. The song within itself though was so viral beyond TikTok that even your parents likely heard of it. Many of us would’ve appreciated singing “Cooper DeJean is not a safety” 46 times.
