Your Ultimate Hangover Guide

I may not know a lot about science, but I do know tequila. Throughout my love-hate relationship with tequila, I’ve learned a thing or two about how I can kick the bubbling of the stomach or pounding headache that comes with one too many cocktails.
While many experts say there’s nothing better than water, we all know that no hungover person wants to drink water. You often want to lie in bed all day and sleep off your hangxiety that you can’t seem to kick. If you’re lying in bed right now and are desperately searching the web on how to escape your hangover, look no further, we’ve got some tricks up our sleeves.
A Bagel
I’ve been living by the words that a bagel sandwich can cure any hangover. Paired with either eggs, sausage, Taylor ham or bacon, or just plain cream cheese, a bagel can cure any hangover. Not only are the carbs something you need to absorb any leftover alcohol in your system, but the protein in the sandwich can help carry you through your hangover munchies.
Electrolyte Drinks
If you’re avoiding plain water, electrolyte drinks are the next best thing. I personally love Vitamin Water because they aren’t filled with sugar and have plenty of vitamins that flush your body of all the alcohol and bad decisions from the night before. The same can be said for Gatorade as it is filled with electrolytes, but also has lots of sugar, so beware. Liquid IV is another classic, as the sugar in the original electrolyte’s product is less than Gatorade and has equally as many beneficial vitamins.
Nature’s Gatorade
If it’s good enough for Bryce Harper, then it’s good enough for us. Bryce Harper shared on TikTok his infamous concoction he drinks every morning to keep his body hydrated and filled with nutrients. The ingredients are simple, it’s just water, lemon juice, a teaspoon of salt, and a half cup of coconut water. Now, I don’t typically add coconut water to my drink, but the simple drink not only pumps you full of water, but the salt gives you electrolytes while the lemon juice has citric acid packed with vitamins.
A Cold Shower
This sounds a bit bizarre, but I’ve often found cold showers to help shock my body out of a disoriented state. Oftentimes, a cold shower or shocking your body with cold temperatures can help with blood circulation and increase pain management. If you can’t get yourself out of bed to take a full-blown shower, then cracking a window to the cool air or splashing yourself with cold water can give you a similar effect.
Exercise
Look, we’re not saying to go run a marathon, but any form of activity can help sweat out the excess alcohol that can’t find its way out. Whether it’s going on a five-minute walk, or a light jog, exercise can kick your body back in action and recirculate your blood to rid the hangover madness.
EAT!
It may seem obvious, but the best way to get over a hangover is to eat. Whether it’s a banana, toast, or a bowl of oatmeal, some plain foods can help boost your energy and put a stop to stomach cramps. Even if you can’t be bothered to make a full-blown meal, knock back some crackers or Goldfish to help ease the pain.
The Anthony Bourdain Method
The late famous chef claims that some aspirin, a cold Coca-Cola, a joint, and spicy food can remedy a nasty hangover. While a joint, soda, and aspirin have all been used to treat a hangover, the spicy food really helps take your mind off of the pain in your head to the pain in your mouth.
Keep On Drinking
If all else fails, you can’t feel the hangover if you’re too busy being drunk!
