Penn State Commonwealth Campuses To Merge & Form Penn State 2

Penn State’s Commonwealth Campuses are set to merge and form Penn State 2, the university announced Tuesday.

Penn State 2 will move into the location previously held by the Harrisburg campus, the largest campus other than University Park.

The formation of Penn State 2 came after the announcement that the university would be shutting down certain commonwealth campuses.

Students at all Commonwealth Campuses will be eligible to attend Penn State 2 and will not have to reapply. Commonwealth Campus athletes, however, will be individually selected by coaches at the newly formed Penn State 2 program, which will compete in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference.

The nickname of Penn State 2 will become the Pocono Cats to avoid confusion with the original Penn State Nittany Lions.
