Penn State Hoops Transfer Portal Roundup: End-Of-Season

While the Penn State men’s basketball season ended shorter than anticipated, a number of former Penn State players played key roles in their schools’ 2024-25 seasons.
With the college basketball season zooming to an end, we took a look back on how these players performed throughout the season on their respective programs.
Evan Mahaffey, Ohio State
Evan Mahaffey played his fewest number of games in his career this season with the Buckeyes. He appeared in 32 games and started just three, averaging 3.6 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 0.8 assists on a career-low 38.5% shooting from the free-throw line.
Mahaffey’s second year with the Buckeyes ended without making the NCAA Tournament after a first-round loss to Iowa in the Big Ten Tournament. He entered the transfer portal on March 24 and committed to Akron four days later.
Jameel Brown, Temple
Jameel Brown played in eight games and averaged 5.3 points, 1.9 rebounds, and 0.6 assists as a member of the Owls. He shot 37% from deep, the best of his career so far. Brown has yet to start a college basketball game in his career.
Brown entered the transfer portal after one season at Temple. He will have two years of eligibility remaining.
Kebba Njie, Notre Dame
Kebba Njie completed his second season with the Fighting Irish, starting 30 of his 31 games played in the process. Njie averaged a career-high 6.1 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 36.8% three-point shooting on 23.6 minutes per contest.
Njie and Notre Dame failed to crack the NCAA Tournament after a 15-18 season, capped off by a second-round ACC Tournament loss to North Carolina.
Caleb Dorsey, William & Mary
Caleb Dorsey’s second year with the Tribe and fifth overall year of college basketball saw the former Penn State guard play in 23 games and start two. He secured a career-high 7.7-point average, but his rebound production fell to 3.9 per game compared to six in 2023-24. Dorsey dishes out 1.7 assists per game and 40.9% from the field.
William & Mary’s season came to an end in a CAA Championship quarterfinal loss to Delaware. Dorsey scored two points and snagged five rebounds in 16 minutes in the game.
Dallion Johnson, Florida Gulf Coast
Dallion Johnson started all 34 of Florida Gulf Coast’s games in 2024-25. The former Penn State guard has turned into a leader for the Eagles in his second year in Fort Myers, averaging a career-high 14.8 points on the season. Johnson also averaged 33.3 minutes per night on 39.6% field goal shooting and 36.9% three-point shooting.
While Johnson and FGCU were eliminated in the ASUN Tournament quarterfinal against Queens, they accepted an invite to play in the Purple College Basketball Invitational postseason tournament. The Eagles fell in the semifinal to eventual runner-up Cleveland State, with Johnson notching 10 points in the matchup.
Kanye Clary, Mississippi State
Kanye Clary didn’t have the bounce-back season he was hoping for after he was removed from Penn State’s roster a year ago. He sustained a lower-leg injury playing for Mississippi State, appearing in seven games with 6.3 points, 2.6 assists, 1.3 rebounds, and 1.1 steals per game.
Clary is back in the portal and is suing Penn State, Mike Rhoades, and several others.
