Report: Former Penn State Hoops Forward Evan Mahaffey Enters Transfer Portal

Former Penn State men’s basketball forward Evan Mahaffey has entered the transfer portal, per Verbal Commits. Mahaffey played at Penn State during the 2022-23 season before playing two years at Ohio State.

In his lone season as a Nittany Lion, Mahaffey put up 2.8 points and 1.7 rebounds per game before heading to Ohio State.

With the Buckeyes, Mahaffey started in 35 games last season, but saw his minutes decrease this past season, going from 4.3 points and 4.2 rebounds per game to 3.6 points and 3.1 rebounds.

Mahaffey joined Kanye Clary and Demetrius Lilley as members of the 2023 NCAA Tournament team to enter the transfer portal Monday. None of the three played at Penn State this season.

The 6’6″ forward will have one year of eligibility remaining.
