Report: Penn State Wrestler Erik Gibson Enters Transfer Portal

Penn State wrestling’s Erik Gibson has entered the transfer portal, according to Pat Mineo of The Wrestling Room.

Gibson was a redshirt freshman for the Nittany Lions at the 174-pound weight class. While he did not get to wrestle in duals this season, Gibson was impressive in open tournaments, going 3-1 with a major and a tech fall.

Gibson sat behind two-time Big Ten champion and 2024 national champion Levi Haines and three other 174-pounders on the roster.

As the transfer portal period unfolds, the Penn State wrestling team has already seen some significant changes, including the loss of wrestlers Alex Facundo and Gary Steen.
