Report: Former Penn State Football Cornerback Jon Mitchell Transfers To Georgia Tech

Former Penn State football cornerback has committed to transfer to Georgia Tech, per On3’s Hayes Fawcett. He has four years of eligibility left.

Mitchell played in six games in 2024 as a true freshman. He recorded two tackles against Kent State in September and five assisted tackles against Purdue and Maryland later in the season.

The corner back made the most of his special teams reps as well, taking home the coaching staff’s Special Teams Player of the Game for his performance in Penn State’s College Football Playoff first-round win over SMU in December.

The 6’0″ 185-pounder is the first Penn State player to commit to another team in the spring transfer portal window. He is ranked as a three-star transfer by 247Sports Composite rankings and the No. 415 player available.

Mitchell leaves after a promising start to his Nittany Lions career, but the emergence of Kenny Woseley Jr. and Elliot Washington hindered his ability to start in 2025.
