Three Penn State Baseball Players Earn All-Big Ten Honors

Penn State baseball had three Nittany Lions earn All-Big Ten awards, announced by the conference Tuesday morning.
Junior outfielder Paxton Kling was selected to the All-Big Ten First Team and Big Ten All-Defensive Team, making him the program’s 17th first-team selection and first player to be selected to the conference’s first team since Matt Wood in 2022.
The Pennsylvania native held a .353 batting average and earned 28 RBI in Big Ten Play. Kling also leads the team in batting average at .340, slugging percentage at .616, hits with 69, and runs with 60. He is currently tied with Bryce Molinaro for the team high in home runs with 13. Kling’s 13 homers in a season place seventh in program history, while his 60 runs in a season place fourth.
Redshirt sophomore Jack Porter was named Second Team All-Big Ten as a designated hitter.
This season, Porter held a .310 batting average, racking up 57 hits, 10 HR, 38 RBI, and 44 runs. In Big Ten play alone, Porter hit .331 with 11 doubles, eight HR, and 30 RBI. His most notable performance stretch this season came between February 15 and April 6, in which the redshirt sophomore reached base in 30-straight games.
The program’s final accolade was given to graduate student Cole Wagner, who earned the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award.
Wagner, another Pennsylvania native, has played 36 games for the Nittany Lions this season, spending the majority of his time at first base. In just 36 games, he is batting .292 and has tallied 38 hits, including nine doubles, two triples, four HR, and 27 RBIs. Wagner also has shown some speed with 11 steals.
Following the Nittany Lions’ final homestead of the regular season and series win over Xavier last weekend, Penn State currently sits at 31-22 entering Big Ten Tournament play this week.
Coach Mike Gambino will send his team to Charles Schwab Field in Omaha to begin pool play as a No. 9 seed against No. 5 seed Washington on Wednesday, May 21, at 3 p.m. The entire Big Ten Tournament can be streamed on the Big Ten Network.
