Penn State Football Hires Former Villanova Special Teams Coordinator Matthew Colangelo As Special Teams Analyst

Penn State football has hired former Villanova special-teams coordinator and safeties coach Matthew Colangelo as a special-teams analyst, following spring practices. The hiring follows the departure of assistant special teams coordinator Keith Bruno.

Colangelo has been with Villanova, one of Penn State’s 2025 out-of-conference foes, for the past six years. Before that, he spent time as a safeties coach with Holy Cross and Yale.

The Cromwell, Connecticut, native’s primary recruiting territory consists of New England, including Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont. Since working with the Wildcats, Colangelo has also picked up influence in the Philadelphia area.
