Penn State Football’s Max Granville Suffers Long-Term Injury

Penn State football defensive end Max Granville is dealing with a long-term injury, James Franklin announced at his weekly media availability Thursday.

The redshirt freshman suffered the injury while working out at home over the summer break.

“Yeah, Max is out with a long-term injury,” Franklin said. “He got hurt over break at home, working out, so obviously not an ideal situation. And my heart breaks for the kid and the family. And obviously not what we wanted or needed.”

Granville appeared in seven games last season after enrolling a year early as a four-star prospect, recording one tackle against Maryland. He was expected to play a key role on the defensive end line this season after the loss of three ends, most notably Abdul Carter.

It is unclear what injury Granville has and what his timeline for return is.
