Penn State Men’s Hockey Commit Kale Dach Drafted No. 201 By Pittsburgh Penguins

Another one.

Penn State men’s hockey continues its success on day two of the NHL Draft with future Nittany Lion Kale Dach being selected by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the seventh round at pick No. 201. Dach is the fifth Penn State player taken thus far.

The 5’11”, 172-pounder played with the Sherwood Park Crusaders last season, where he scored 22 goals and added 65 assists in just 54 games. In the upcoming season, Dach is expected to play for the Calgary Hitmen in the Western Hockey League.

“A natural playmaker, Dach generates advantages through sharp, snap processing and a mastery of soft skills. His game features one-touch passes, quick hands in tight spaces, subtle delay tactics, and a wide array of handoff plays.” Elite Prospects wrote in its 2025 NHL Draft Guide.

While the 18-year-old will not suit up for the Blue-and-White until at least the 2026-2027 season, the forward has a bright future in Happy Valley. He committed to Penn State in November of 2023.

Dach joins defenseman signee Jackson Smith, center Charlie Cerrato, and commits Kieren Dervin and Shea Busch to hear their names called in Los Angeles at the 2025 NHL Draft.
