Penn State Men’s Hockey Commit Shea Busch Drafted No. 128 Overall By Florida Panthers

The hits keep on coming.

Penn State men’s hockey commit Shea Busch was selected by the defending Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers with the final pick of the fourth round of the 2025 NHL Entry Draft, No. 128 overall, on Saturday.

Busch is the fourth Penn State-affiliated player to be drafted so far. Jackson Smith was picked No. 14 overall by the Columbus Blue Jackets on Friday night, becoming the program’s first-ever first-round selection in history.

Rising sophomore Charlie Cerrato was selected in the second round at No. 49 overall by the Carolina Hurricanes earlier on Saturday, as was commit Kieren Dervin at No. 65 in the third round by the Vancouver Canucks.

Busch, who turned 18 on June 12, spent time with the Vernon Vipers of the British Columbia Hockey League and the Everett Silvertips of the Western Hockey League, scoring 23 goals across 61 total games in the 2024-25 season. In the 2025 WHL Playoffs, Busch registered six goals and five assists in just 13 games.

Busch has not yet indicated when he plans to make the jump to NCAA hockey and play for the Nittany Lions.
