Penn State women’s lacrosse has grabbed two new players from the transfer portal ahead of coach Kayla Treanor’s first season.

Midfielder Julia Basciano has followed her old coach, Treanor, from Syracuse to Happy Valley for her fifth year.

Basciano played 44 games in her career for the Orange, with her first start against Cornell in 2024. She recorded 10 ground balls and seven caused turnovers while at Syracuse, getting her first career start against Cornell in 2024.

The Nittany Lions also picked up standout midfielder Anna Salerno from Mount St. Mary.

Salerno led Mount St. Mary’s in goals during the 2025 season, posting 52 goals and four assists. She also caused 18 turnovers and picked up 22 ground balls last season while notching hat tricks in nine straight games.

Throughout her time with the Mountaineers, the midfielder appeared in 55 games with 110 goals and 11 assists, while grabbing 54 ground balls and 29 caused turnovers. Salerno notched 90 of the goals in her last two seasons alone.
