Penn State Women’s Volleyball Falls One Spot To No. 18 In Latest AVCA Poll

The Nittany Lions take a slight drop in the national rankings.

Penn State women’s volleyball droped one spot to No. 18 in the AVCA Poll. The Nittany Lions began the season as the No. 2 ranked team in the country, before falling quickly out of the national landscape.

Katie Schumacher-Cawley’s team has been resilent all season long despite the road bumps it has faced. The blue and white are joined by fellow Big Ten programs, No. 1 Nebraska, No. 11 Purdue, No. 12 Wisconsin, No. 20 Minnesota, No. 22 USC, No. 23 Indiana, and No. 25 UCLA.

A west coast trip to Washington and Oregon saw Penn State go 1-1 this past week. The Huskies bested the vistors in a five set thriller on Friday and the Ducks fell to the Nittany Lions, 3-1 in four sets in Eugene late Saturday night.

Penn State returns home at 7 p.m. on Friday, October, 24, before heading to Columbus, Ohio on Sunday, October 26 to face Ohio State at noon. Both games will be broadcast on Big Ten Plus.
