Penn State Men’s Hockey’s Matt DiMarsico Named Big Ten First Star Of The Week

After a six-point weekend, including three goals, Matt DiMarsico was named Big Ten Hockey First Star of the Week, the conference announced on Tuesday. It’s the second time DiMarsico has been awarded this honor in his collegiate career.

In the series sweep of LIU, DiMarsico recorded the second-most points in the nation over the weekend. He most notably notched his second hat-trick of the season during Friday’s 5-4 come-from-behind overtime win. DiMarsico now stands alone as the only Nittany Lion in program history to have multiple hat-tricks in the same season.

On Saturday, DiMarsico was credited with two primary assists and one secondary assist en route to a 3-0 shutout over the Sharks. His efforts against LIU propelled him to the fifth-most points in the nation and third in the Big Ten. His six goals on the year put him second in the NCAA, behind only his teammate, JJ Wiebusch.

Penn State will take on Stonehill this weekend at Pegula Ice Arena beginning at 7 p.m. on Friday, October 24. The series will mark the end of the team’s non-conference slate.
