Penn State Women’s Hockey Freshman Matilde Fantin Named AHA Rookie Of The Week

Penn State women’s hockey freshman Matilde Fantin was awarded the AHA Rookie of the Week, the conference announced on Tuesday.

The Como, Italy native notched six points over the weekend in the Nittany Lions’ sweep over Lindenwood at Pegula Ice Arena. The freshman won 13 of her 22 faceoffs in the two-game series, while also recording a goal and two assists in each game.

Fantin won Forward of the Week by Atlantic Hockey America two weeks ago. Penn State is undefeated to start its 2025-26 campaign and is currently ranked No. 6 nationally.

The Nittany Lions head on the road to take on Robert Morris this week, with the first game starting at 3 p.m. on Friday, October 31.
