Power Ranking Pumpkin Carvings Around Campus

Halloween is right around the corner, folks!

In addition to the stunning fall foliage, the campus is scattered with pumpkins of all kinds. One of the best traditions to get you in the Halloween spirit is carving a jack-o’-lantern. Students have already been hard at work carving and painting autumnal masterpieces and leaving them around campus for others to admire.

With the gourd population growing, we decided to power rank the best on-campus pumpkin carvings we’ve seen.

10.

This carving is cute and classic, and it has an adorable expression. Simple, but timeless.

9.

This pair of goofy pumpkins was spotted across from the HUB. Extra points for the tongue.

8.

Perfectly perched in a lovely spot, this pumpkin has more rounded features that we found unique.

7.

Tucked away behind a bench, this pumpkin had a fun little ‘hat’ on its head from another pumpkin’s stem. Using the other stem as the nose also scored them some creative points.

6.

This one is pretty creepy (especially the teeth), but isn’t getting scared what Halloween is all about?

5.

The cat is a classic icon of the spooky season, and it’s also a cuddly companion that many adore. Regardless of which the creator was going for, the design is a classic.

4.

A favorite of college students and teenagers alike.

3.

This is even creepier than the previous “scary” pumpkin. The detail in the carving lines is impressive and really adds to the unsettling effect.

2.

This pumpkin depicts Calcifer from Studio Ghibli’s, “Howl’s Moving Castle.” We really appreciate the carving of the top layer of the pumpkin to create the filled-in effect and how long it must have taken.

1.

Adorable. Not only is it a cute frog, but the frog is wearing a tiny witch hat. The amount of detail on this one is really impressive, and it would look amazing lit up.
